Log in to your WordPress blog and then on the left hand menu, be sure to click the Appearance button. After that, select the editor link that appears below the appearance button. Now, make sure that the Update button below is present or that you are logged into the back end as the administrator. Otherwise WordPress will not allow for the changes to be saved. Once you have done this, select the Footer (footer.php) from the menu on the right hand side and make sure the update button continues to be on the screen.
